Brook Goodwin
Landscape and Urban Designer
Brook (they/them) has over five years of experience in urban planning and landscape architecture, with a strong focus on participatory design, environmental restoration, and climate change adaptation. They believe that good design is most effective when it is collaborative, inclusive, and directly responsive to the needs of both the local community and the surrounding ecosystem.
Their primary work centers on parks and recreation design, including community parks, waterfront parks, urban agriculture, culturally responsive landscapes, urban and regional trails, wilderness trails, and nature parks.
Brook is also passionate about streetscapes and greenways, wildlife corridors, pollinator pathways, tactical urbanism, and design activism. A commitment to social justice in outdoor recreation is a driving tenet of their practice, especially when it comes to expanding access and representation for historically marginalized communities. This Includes creating outdoor spaces where LGBTQ+ communities feel safe and welcome, and advocating for Queer representation in outdoor leadership and programming.
Outside of work, Brook enjoys exploring landscapes through outdoor activities including hiking, backpacking, sea kayaking, sailing, and scuba diving. They also do volunteer trail work year-round with the Washington Trails Association, building and repairing trails throughout the Puget Sound and Cascade Mountains.
